Acupuncture for Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a disorder involving chronic debilitating pain, sometimes affecting the entire body.  It is estimated that around 5.8 million people in the United States alone are diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Individuals can suffer from any of the following:

  • Environmental sensitivity: hypersensitivity to noise, chemicals, touch

  • Muscle and joint pain and stiffness

  • Muscle cramps and spasms

  • Not just fatigue but utter exhaustion

  • Cognitive disturbance like difficulty in concentrating, poor memory, and mental sluggishness

  • Insomnia

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Bowel disturbance: IBS, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and distention

Because acupuncture addresses the whole body, or root causes to illness, it is an excellent resource in the treatment of Fibromyalgia. Patients immediately see symptoms decreasing in duration and intensity. Leslie practices what is called the Balance Method. This style of acupuncture incorporates new strategies for long standing chronic disorders, like Fibromyalgia. Distal points to the pain are used along with a focus on balancing the yin and yang of the entire body. The Balance Method bases its approach on the I Ching and mirror imaging, looking at the body as an existing hologram.

I have suffered with multiple symptoms resulting from being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, neuralgia, poor sleep and allergies for more than 25 years. I felt a form of depression due to the stress of "managing" my pain 24/7. Since receiving acupuncture treatments and taking the whole food supplements, I have had a life-changing experience! I am physically active and feel physically and mentally energetic again. The quality of my life has been enhanced. I have been free of medications for over 5 years and feel cleansed of those toxins. I'm so grateful to Leslie Deems for her many gifts and vast knowledge of healing!
